The Grand Canal began as an experiment and a challenge to work in a new panoramic scale, capturing the movement of water, architecture, and light. Inspired by a view of Venice, Italy, it became a technical and meditative exploration of space and stillness.
Quietly & truthfully however, I just really wanted to paint Venice before it drowns.... For archival purposes, of course.
