The Grand Canal began as both an experiment and a challenge, an attempt to work in a new panoramic scale, capturing the rhythm of water, architecture, and light. Inspired by a view of Venice, it became a meditative study of movement and stillness, of space suspended between beauty and decay.
Quietly, though, I just wanted to paint Venice before it drowns, for archival purposes, of course...
